Between two worlds.
We grew up between two worlds. Tamil and Danish. Indian and European. The beautiful thing we learned is that the traditional woman and the modern woman were never two different people. She has always been both. Soft and fierce. Rooted and free.
I’m Keshona, raised in Denmark between those worlds. ELARA was inspired by the idea that woman should never have to choose one version of themselves over another. She can all in one.

Buying desi in Europe shouldn't be this hard.
We grew up loving the beauty of the saree, but not always knowing how to wear it in the lives we actually lived. The saree often felt reserved for weddings, family functions, or a version of ourselves we only visited a few times a year.
For too long, buying desi clothing in Europe has meant a few things: shopping in person at local stores with our mothers, order online from India without knowing the true cost or quality, or stock up on beautiful pieces only when visiting India or Sri Lanka every few years. We love these clothes, yet they never feel entirely like us. Oh, and once they finally arrive, we are still dependent on tailors to stitch our blouses and skirts. And.. most of us struggle to learn the art of draping a saree without the presence of our mothers.
We wanted traditional clothing to feel as effortless as the rest of our wardrobe. For our South Asian girlies, and for anyone who admires the pieces.

The pieces are made by partners in India we have built great relations with. We receive everything at our facility in Denmark, check it ourselves, pack it and ship it. Two places, one circle we trust.

No tailor visits. No draping skills required. Step into it like a dress. All the drama of a saree, with the ease of getting dressed for a casual night out.

Released once, then retired.
We produce in limited quantities on purpose. Most pieces are released once, then quietly retired. Not manufactured FOMO. We just don't want to make more than we believe in.
Tradition should evolve with us.
So this is what ELARA is.
Pieces inspired by the woman who grew up between two worlds and refuses to choose only one. The woman who loves with everything she has and stands for everything she deserves. She loves tradition deeply, but never fully saw herself reflected in the way it was worn.
We wanted sarees that felt effortless in modern life. Pieces that align actually with her day-to-day lifestyle. Pieces she could move in, celebrate in, and feel beautiful in without needing to be or act a certain way.
Some of our pieces are original ELARA designs, while others are carefully selected styles chosen for the ELARA woman.
We produce in limited quantities as part of our slow fashion approach, choosing quality over mass production. Each piece is intentionally designed and typically released in small, exclusive runs. This allows us to focus on thoughtful craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation.
Our approach keeps us closely connected to the needs of the modern woman while delivering pieces created with purpose.
The dreaming and founding of ELARA happened in Copenhagen, Denmark, with the love and support of loved ones.
ELARA, interpreted as bright or shining light. Hence the name: ELARA CPH.
